Haemodynamic frailty – A risk factor for acute kidney injury in the elderly

چکیده
Clinical frailty in the elderly is defined by a composite measure of functional psychomotor decline. Herein, we develop concept haemodynamic (HDF), state increased predisposition to disease prevalent and characterised impairment network compensatory responses governing defence circulatory volume adaptive function. We review factors predisposing HDF, with focus on impaired capacity sustain total body water balance. As component dehydration generates vulnerability diseases caused tissue hypoperfusion, including acute kidney injury. provide detailed mechanistic explanation how depletion intravascular impacts renal blood flow become an important element heightened risk injury (AKI) elderly. bring these considerations into clinical context reference examples pre-renal (haemodynamic) intrinsic (involving parenchymal damage) AKI elevated setting dehydration. Finally, present HDF as opportunity prevent disease, for which diagnostic interventional standards need be refined. Further prospective studies are warranted help clarify utility assessing managing regard mitigation

Risk Factors of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Sepsis; A Cross-Sectional Study
Background and Objective: Due to the importance of acute kidney injury associated in patients with sepsis and the impact of various factors on mortality and hospital stay of these patients, this study was conducted to investigate the clinical features and risk factors for acute kidney injury in patients with sepsis. In addition, we examined whether the severity of acute kidney injury affected c...
متن کاملAcute kidney injury increases risk of ESRD among elderly.
Risk for ESRD among elderly patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) has not been studied in a large, representative sample. This study aimed to determine incidence rates and hazard ratios for developing ESRD in elderly individuals, with and without chronic kidney disease (CKD), who had AKI. In the 2000 5% random sample of Medicare beneficiaries, clinical conditions were identified using Medicar...
متن کاملQuantifying severity of chronic kidney disease as a risk factor for acute kidney injury.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) may be the real epidemic kidney disease,1 and practicing nephrologists have long known that patients with reduced GFR are more likely to experience AKI, particularly in the elderly.2 Surprisingly, this relationship had not been quantified rigorously until recently. For example, the widely disseminated Clinical Practice Guidelines for Chronic Kidney Disease by the Natio...
متن کاملExperimental evidence that preexisting chronic kidney disease is a risk factor for acute kidney injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is defined by a rapid decline in glomerular filtration rate. AKI is a worldwide health problem; it has a high mortality rate and can progress toward chronic kidney disease (CKD). Rates of mortality, morbidity, and hospitalization following AKI, which is induced by various medical complications, are higher in patients with CKD [1,2]. CKD is reported in approximately 30%...
